World No. 1 Rafael Nadal holds a 11-4 series advantage over fellow Spaniard David Ferrer entering into the Monte-Carlo final. The players last battled earlier this year at the Australian Open, where Ferrer took a quarterfinal meeting in straight sets. Nadal is 8-1 against Ferrer on clay, having captured eight straight matches since their first-career meeting in 2004.

Nadal reached his seventh Monte-Carlo final by virtue of a hard-fought win against World No. 4 Andy Murray. After dropping the second set, the World No. 1 regrouped to win the deciding set, 6-1.
The 24-year-old is bidding for his first title in 2011, looking to raise his career tally to 44. He will make his third appearance in an ATP World Tour final this season, with consecutive finals berths booked in Indian Wells (lost to Djokovic) and Miami (lost to Djokovic).
World No. 6 Ferrer eased through his semifinal match with 7th seed Jurgen Melzer, 6-3, 6-2. The 29-year-old veteran advanced to the final without losing a set, having downed countryman Feliciano Lopez, Milos Raonic and 11th seed Viktor Troicki in straights.
Ferrer will attempt to win his third title of the season on Sunday. He remains on track to secure a 12th ATP World Tour crown, after putting together successful runs in Auckland and Acapulco.
Prediction: Nadal will come out focused, after injury and a determined Ferrer denied him a rare Calendar Slam in January. The elder Spaniard returns well, but does not defend quite as well as Murray does. Expect him to put up a serious fight regardless, running down every ball from beginning to end.
At his very best on Sunday, Ferrer could keep the match interesting. Nadal in straight sets.
